a process for the utilization of cottonseed hulls for the production of particle board is described. in this process, cottonseed hulls are reduced in size, mixed with a suitable resin binder and catalyst and pressed between the heated platens of a press under known pressure and temperature to form the boards. the effects of resin concentration and moisture content, before pressing, on various properties of the particle board were determined. an increase in resin concentration gave improved tensile strength, modulus of rupture and density and a reduction in the moisture content and water absorption of the board. similar trends were observed when the moisture content of the hull-resin mixture was varied.
