a study of water-content measurement methods has shown that the uhf methods are the most suitable for solid and powder materials, in particular the products from cottonseed oil extraction. the sensitivity is dependent on the thickness of the material and on the amounts of bound and free water. therefore, the thickness and the water-content range cannot be selected arbitrarily but are determined by the production conditions, and therefore the sensitivity in certain methods may be insufficient to provide a given accuracy. the purpose of this study is to define ways of improving the measurement sensitivity. 2 refs
