it is known that the bitumens of coals take an active part in the oxidation process. in the action of oxidizing agents on peat, oxidation of the resinous and asphaltenic compounds takes place, as a result of which a bleached wax is extracted. the present investigation was devoted to the influence of the depth of oxidation of peat with nitrogen dioxide on the chemical composition of the waxes. the objects of investigation were waxes obtained from cottongrass peat with a degree of decomposition of 55-60 (cottongrass - 95; medium - 5) and from oxidized samples of it. 5 refs
