data are presented which show that thermally laminating a light-weight porous, nonwoven fabric to absorbent padding leads to a significant reduction in linting tendency, while retaining good absorbency and providing nonadherence to the healing tissue. the porous nonwoven facings which have been applied by this process are of two types, differing as to geometry, being either continuous filaments or discontinuous boss pattern; and differing as to composition of either high density polyethylene or copolymers of propylene and ethylene. using the gravimetric dry lint test method, the present nonwoven faced absorbent pads were shown to release less lint than comparable weight surgical pads of either cotton gauze or spunlaced covered fiber wadding. 3 refs
