polypropylene is used extensively in brazil for a wide range of fiber based products in a variety of end-use applications. adoption of pp for such products has been helped considerably through the establishment of the country's first pp polymer plant in 1978 and additional new capacity will support further development and usage details are given on pp tape/fiber usage for sacks, strapping, carpet backing etc. together with the textile fiber usage of both staple- and continuous fiber yarns. it can be seen today that brazil will consume more pp than it actually produces in the years to come if the price of the polymer will be kept at reasonable levels so that they can compete with natural fibers like jute and cotton
