'paper towel' sensor protects pc boards from conductive fluid spills

a simple conductive-fluid sensor made from copper screening, paper towels, a fuse and a single transistor will turn off all power to a given circuit or p/c board if an accidental spill occurs. once activated, the device will not allow power back on until the contaminated circuit is washed and dried thoroughly, the sensor is rearmed with fresh paper-towel blotter, and the fuse is replaced (or the relay is reset)
