Zellweger Uster will supply cotton classing equipment worth ＄7.3 million as part of a World Bank project to modernize cotton production in Uzbekistan. Uzbekistan is the third largest seed cotton exporter and the second largest cotton exporter in the world. Cotton production accounts for 75 percent of Uzbekistan's foreign earnings. The World Bank project will focus on the seed cotton industry, cotton marketing, integrated pest control, irrigation, and project management. The new Zellweger Uster equipment will bring cotton grading in Uzbekistan up to international standards. Zellweger will provide 35 high volume instruments, equipment installation, servicing, and training. The United States Agricultural Marketing Service's central classing system will be the model for the grading program.
