Water-repellent staple fibres for thermal bonded coverstock

A hydrophobic fibre has been developed by FiberVisions to improve diaper and adult incontinence products. Called HY-Repel the fiber has superior hydrophobic properties and the use of it in woven products is said to offer: good protection against leakage; a water-repellent outer layer; increased user comfort due to the fibre's softness and texture; and high fabric uniformity without weak spots. The fibre is available in 2.2 dtex and has a tenacity of 1.7-1.9 cN/dtex.
