Immature fibre content and fabric appearance

The application of AFIS Maturity Measurements in cotton yarn manufacturing is discussed. The paper uses experimental work to highlight one of the problems related to the composition of bale laydowns, namely the control of immature fibre content. Recommendations are made for their composition: the difference between the average value for the IFC of subsequent laydowns should be not larger than 0.5％.
