The article details a novel method for dyeing modified aramid fibers and blends thereof with metallized and non-metallized acid or direct dyes with or without carriers. It offers coloured aramid fibers which exhibit good stability to light. The aramid fibers are modified by incorporating hindered amine stabilizers into the polymer chain during polymerization. In turn the use of these classes of dyes significantly impoves the light fastness properties of the fibre and eliminate the need for carriers and very high temperature dyeing conditions.
