Growing of cotton in Russia - problems and prospects (Russian)

The history of cotton cultivation in the former Soviet Union and in Russia is discussed. Production became profitable in the 1930s and early 1940s, but later management errors led to a drop in yield. Comparative data are given for 1949 and 1995. Improvements in cotton varieties are suggested, but the main problem is the absence of long-term adequate financial support.
