Standard Indian Cottons are those varieties whose production exceeds 50,000 bales per year. The Cotton Technological Research Laboratory tests samples of varieties that are grown under specified conditions. Data on the crop from the 1988/1989 season are complied. Data on cultivation include bolls and seeds per plant, weight of seed and boll, ginning percent, rainfall, and temperature. The geographic area and the data of introduction are noted for each variety. The Grader's Report indicates class, color, staple length and strength, regularity, and value. Yarn and fiber properties are tested in the laboratory.
