Cellulosic fibers exhibit a variety of supermolecular structures. In industrial practice, smaller differences are evident, such as in the varying dye uptake of different fibers. In general, sorption testing methods are well suited for studying the differences in the physical structure of cellulosic fibers. The classic iodine sorption method is used to calculate, from measured values, the inner surface area of a cellulosic fiber. 14 refs.
