Sheep management practices and wool production in the Himachal Pradesh region of the Himalayas were studied during the summer months of 1984 and 1985. Surveys were conducted to determine the structure of the sheep population (number of flocks, population, flock sizes), annual wool yield per sheep, average body weight, and mortality. Additional information was collected on sheep acquisition, breeding practices, feeding and folding, shearing seasons, marketing, migration practices, and the utilization of droppings, hides, skins, horns, and milk. 5 refs.
