Germany consumes 26 kilograms of textiles per capita per year. Apparel accounts for 13 kilograms. Approximately dealers or donated, 15-30 percent is recycled as cleaning cloths, 15 percent is used in some other way, and 10 percent is disposed of as real waste in landfills. The Borgers Company in Berlin, a textile recycler with an facilities in the United States, Japan, Brazil, South Africa, in products for such automotive applications as floor carpets, interior trim, luggage compartments, trim insulation, and absorption parts. In 1997, Borgers Berlin used 1,000 tons of shredded fibers from used apparel, jeanswear, and jute products.
