A new method manufactured condensation polymerization filled cation exchange polypropylene fibers for the efficient purification of wastewater containing caprolactam. The level of purification depended on the volume of wastewater passed through the system. Experiments compared polyacrylonitrile, polypropylene, and modified polypropylene. The modified polypropylene fiber had a complex cross section with a more active surface, higher hydrophilicity, high wettability by binders, and adhesion to polymer matrixes. Experiments also compared the efficiency of single-stage and three-stage purification. The resultant purified water complies with standards established for softened water. A skeleton diagram of a purification installation consists of a tank to collect wastewater, wastewater purification columns, a tank for purified water, a regenerating agent heater, and cation exchange fiber material. 6 refs.
