The effect of heat on polypropylene fibers was studied to determine the highest temperature to which the fiber can be subjected before decomposition occurs. The studies concluded that hydrothermal treatment is the most damaging to polypropylene, causing dimensional changes which limit the fiber's applications. 7 refs.
