A discussion of safety, health, and environmental issues in the textile industry included papers addressing the biodegradability of bagasse geotextiles, the safety of amateur dyeing, and microwave removal of cellulytic fungi and effects of microwave radiation on cellulosic fiber microstructure. All three papers highlighted the relationship between a product and the environment. The decision to make a product durable or degradable affects safety, health, and the environment and must be addressed individually for each product. Abstract.
