The United Stats Department of Agriculture developed RapidCon 101, a rapid conditioning machine for cotton fiber testing in laboratories. The RapidCon 101, in which well conditioned laboratory air is drawn through perforated bottom trays containing classing samples, reduces moisture content equilibration times dramatically. The suction plena are integrated into sample transport conveyors. The system is suitable for large classing offices with numerous high volume instrument lines for cottons with moisture contents that are neither too high nor too low. Researchers at Cotton Incorporated, Queensland Cotton, and Schaffner Technologies added a sample conditioning chamber and a laboratory conditioning loop to improve the performance of the RapidCon 101 and render it appropriate for smaller laboratories.
