A study compared the effective length of fiber measurements on the Baer Comb Sorter, 2.5 percent SL value of the high volume instrument (HVI), and UQL (W) value of the Advanced Fiber Information System (AFIS). The value of effective length of the Baer Comb Sorter was generally higher than UQL (W) of the AFIS and the 2.5 percent SL values of the HVI. The values of UQL (W) were higher than 2.5 percent SL values. Earlier studies determined that the 2.5 percent SL of ADF and HVI had a correlation of r=0.98.
