The use of a composite highloft structures made with cotton fibers can improve the hydraulic efficiency of the pulp core in diapers and incontinent products. The long cotton fibers create greater physical strength in the pad and reduce the pad separation common in thinner super-absorbent products. Other applications for cotton-containing highloft composites include liquid and air filtration systems, insulation, home furnishings, and wipes. Cotton highloft composites offer extensive versatility both in performance and aesthetic appeal and can be produced with relatively simple equipment.
