The Mississippi Delta is using the GOSSYM-COMAX computer program to produce cotton crops with improved characteristics. The program simulates weather, soil, and agricultural practices needed to produce a desired cotton crop. This program helps the grower to determine the amount of water and nitrogen needed by he crop. It also helps the grower to reduce the amount of nitrogen available to the cotton and to produce crops with improved fiber strength. The program is being considered by the United States Department of Agriculture.
