To improve cotton crops in India, research and development must examine seed quality and farmer education. Using certified seeds will help to increase the yield per hectare. The government is encouraged to investigate efficient irrigation schemes and more effective water utilization in rainfed regions. Many cotton losses are attributed to drought and improperly times sowing in relation to the monsoon season. Production can be increased by using satellite technology for weather prediction. and by improving fertilization and pest control. Fixing export quantities for certain varieties and modernizing gins will also improve India's cotton production. To maintain cotton's pre-eminence, the government should form a Cotton Board similar in nature to the Coffee Board and Tea Board.
