Methods of bale selection suited to Just in Time shipment preparation supported by the EFS system include pick by bale using direct specification of bale properties to select bales by bale number, and combining category and bale number selection systems. Pick by category selects valid categories of bales that approximate the bale properties needed to meet a specific average and coefficient of variation percentage. Cotton Incorporated's MILLNet bale selection program for pick by category cotton selection allows companies to reduce the number of stacks from which the bales are chosen. The 3.09 DOS version of MILLNet includes support for automated verification of contract specification, calculating the number of bales received and owed on a contract and pricing by high volume instrument bale quality.
