Novartis Crop Protection Incorporated is developing several insecticides for control of thrips, aphids, flea hoopers, whiteflies, and foliar and boll feeding lepidoptera. The active ingredients, which include thaiamethoxam, pymetrozine, and emamectin benzoate, exert a minimal effect on nontarget organisms or benefical insects that occur in cotton agricultural/ecological systems. Their novel modes of action and unique activity spectra will render such insecticides as Adage, Actara, Centril, Fulfill, and Denim vital components of future resistance management programs. 8 refs.
