An experiment modified medium density polyethylene (MFI of 0.712 gram per 10 minutes) with Mg(OH)(2), FR-20 grade, with a particle size of 2.5 microns. Antiblocking and lubricating agents 020-04, 020-15, and Lifoslip 220 PE were added as polyethylene concentrates. Extrusion in a Brabender plastic corder occurred at a screw speed of 0.75 second; three heating zone temperatures of 160, 170, and 170 degrees centigrade; extruder head temperature of 170 degrees centigrade; and extrusion velocity of 1.72 millimeters per second. An increase in Mg(OH)(2) content increased the pressure in the extruder head, the turning moment measured on the extruder screw, and the flow rate. The pressure and turning moment reached their lowest values when using Lifoslip 220 PE. At high Mg(OH)(2) content (57.5 percent and 60 percent), the pressure and turning moment reached values of those attained with the other agents.
