Wellman Launches New Fiber.

Wellman Incorporated's Sensura manmade fiber is colorfast and shrink resistant. The chemical structure of the fiber, which will compete for market share with cotton, remains undisclosed. Sensura fiber dries twice as fast as cotton fiber. Sensura fabrics are soft and drapeable and wick perspiration through the microclimate between the skin and apparel. Wellman teamed with Parkdale Mills to develop the new manmade fiber. Several companies, including Nike, Pillowtex, Galey & Lord, and Patagonia, are committed to using Sensura in their fall 2001 lines of apparel. Dyersburg Incorporated will manufacture Sensura fabrics at its Alamac Knitting division.
