The digital image analyzer consists of a microscope, charge couple device, camera, imaging board, and personal computer for digitizing and processing images. This testing machine converts real microscopic (gray scale) images into a two dimensional digital matrix of rows and columns, with every matrix element corrleating to a gray scale value of a pixel. Digital image analyzers can determine cotton fiber maturity, fiber cross sectional shapes, blend iregularities, yarn structures, nep structures, and cotton trash and color.
