Image analysis is an effective technique for improving the measurement of the fineness and maturity of cotton fibers. Correlations between such parameters as fiber perimeter, surface area, cross section, maturity, and length are important during fiber testing. It is critical that sampling be conducted to include length categories. Fibrograph combs should be used to prepare the cotton fiber samples before testing.
