The urethane polymer forming system has received intensive attention, especially in the fields of plastic, rubber, surface coatings, adhesives and fibres. Types of polyurethane elastomers include liquid elastomers, millable elastomers and thermoplastic linear urethane elastomers. The properties of these three basic groups have been studied intensively and were found to combine strength with hardness and high levels of elongation at break. Applications include solid tyres, automotive body panels and shoe soles.
