Fibre makers in Europe are turning away from traditional commodity markets to exploit the potential of the still expanding high performance and industrial sectors. As a result their demands on machinery builders are changing. This trend becomes more apparent when several machinery makers and raw material suppliers are regrouping. Saurer's acquisition of Barmag is an example of this. This article discusses the developments in the machine building industry and the new trends emerging from this.
