The establishment of an automatic carpet sorting facility is an important step towards a European-wide carpet recycling system. A new development by Carpet Recycling Europe in Germany plans to recovery around 10% of the polyamide carpets used in Western Europe. The company, formed from a consortium of carpet fibre producers, expects to produce 23,000 tonnes of recycled polyamide products a year at the Polyamide 2000 plant in Premnitz.
