Medical textiles at Heriot Wat University - Centre for biomaterials

In 1998 the Scottish College of Textiles was awarded ￡540 000 from the Scottish Higher Education Funding Council to set up a centre for research into biomaterials. This was delayed because of the College's merger with Heriot Watt. it is now however well on its way to becoming finished and will hopefully open late in 2000. This article describes the setting up of the centre and of the work currently being carried out at Heriot Watt. It also describes the future work which is planned to be carried out at the finished centre.
