An investigation into the synthesis of carboxymethylated (CM) cottons generated at low pressures and the preparation of heat setting resins by crosslinking CM cottons with diethylenetriamine and amino silanes synthesized CM cotton by reacting cotton with chloroacetic acid in ethanolic sodium hydroxide in water at 20 pounds per square inch. Preparation of heat setting resins entailed reacting aqueous solutions of CM cotton with diethylenetriamine or 3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane, casting films, and curing at elevated temperatures. Dynamic mechanical and solid state nuclear magnetic resonance analyses determined the thermal and mechanical properties of the films. Abstract.
