An introduction to copolyester tetrapolyethylene (TPE) films addresses applications of TPE, extruder considerations, optimizing screw design, grades, rheological properties, cast TPE films, blown film, and extrusion coating. General purpose screws with long transitions control melt temperature well, but provide poor color dispersion and output. Barrier screws offer the highest output, but poor color dispersion and melt temperature control. The medium depth Gregory screw with two Union Carbide mixing sections provides the best color dispersion and temperature control, but low output.
