A new B2B exchange uses a consignment building system for purchasing bales of greasy wool from Australia. The system provides access to wool on business days and reduces the amount of time required for buyers to identify specific wool types available in the market. Consignments are categorized according to test results from the Australian Wool Testing Authority and International Wool Textile Organization. Buyers provide profiles of wool varieties that they are seeking, as well as price caps. An alliance of nine wool brokers from all wool growing regions of Australia uses the system to provide a direct link between growers and customers. The alliance represents 19 percent of total Australian wool production.
