Kanebo Gohsen Limited's direct and continuous polymerization system for alkali soluble polymers is based on recent advances in continuous polymerization systems for polyethylene terephthalate (PET). An experiment polymerizing alkali soluble PET yielded polymers with greater stability at production rates higher than those of batch systems. Applications of alkali soluble PET include KilattP, COSMOL alpha, Moss alpha, and Piccina bicomponent fibers, as well as Monlayve partially oriented yarns. 4 refs.
