Preliminary Results from Moisture Addition during Ginning.

Researchers investigated whether significant differences in measured lint moisture content can be achieved after ginning and lint cleaning by conditioning the seed cotton with moist air. An experiment used equipment common to the second stage of drying in the gin to humidify seed cotton. Higher lint moisture levels before and after the lint cleaners resulted in better fiber length properties. The conditioning process did not affect trash levels. 6 refs.
