Presentations at MetCon 2001 addressed new single site catalyst technologies, including Univation Technologies' process that uses metallocene catalysts to manufacture bimodal high molecular weight, high density polyethylene in a single stage Unipol gas phase polyethylene reactor. DuPont's Verispol catalysts consist of nickel and iron based catalysts. Denki-Kagaku Kogyo's zirconocene catalysts can be used in the manufacture of ethylene/styrene copolymers. Rhodia's cyclopentadienol lanthanide catalysts polymerize ethylene and polyethylene-co-methacrylate. Symyx Technologies, Hte, and Thales Technologies use high throughput screening and combinational chemistry to increase the rate of catalyst delivery.
