Microfiltration has matured from a new and developing technology, to a position where it is another useful unit process in water and wastewater treatment. MF provides the unique advantage of always removing particles larger than the pore size (typically 0.1 to 0.2 ㎛), which means that high quality water can be produced with low risk. MF plants are becoming cost competitive with conventional processes. MF has some unique limitations, with conventional processes.
