The authors carried out a questionnaire survey addressed to the spinning, wearing chemical fibre, knitting, dyeing and finishing and garment machine industries. It was designed to show the industry's present situation and to identify the most important factors for industrial competition strategies aimed at future development. A development strategy for china's textile machine industry is elaborated.
