Canada's plans for a strong hemp industry to supply fibers to apparel manufactures have stagnated. Despite the unpopularity of the fiber in apparel, hemp seeds and fibers are gaining share in other markets, such as felts, insulation materials, battings, panels, carpets, blankets, papers, automotive fabrics, foodstuffs, edible oils, shampoos, moisturizers, paints, beer, aromatherapy, and cosmetics. Hemp is used in nonwoven fabrics to exploit its strength, absorbency, and availability. It is used with thermoset polymer resins in composites and in such automotive components as headliners, door panels, load floors, package trays, and trunk liners. Hempline Incorporated and Kenex Limited contract, extract, and produce hemp in Canada, Their location in Ontario is the middle of the country's hemp growing region.
