Techtextil 2001 featured 795 exhibitors from 43 countries and 16,600 visitors (approximately 7,000 from other countries). Notable trends included the blending of such manmade fibers as polyester, nylon, viscose, and acrylic with polypropylene, elastomers, and lyocell. Novel applications included the use of natural fibers in linings, coatings blended with plastic matrixes, and new treatments (fungal and ultraviolet resistant finishes). Other exhibits displayed new process technologies for the weaving, sewing, and knitting of industrial fabrics.
