Functionalized Polysiloxanes as Fine Dispersants for Metal Particulates.

Research on functionalized polysiloxanes as fine dispersants for metal particulates synthesized poly(dimethyl-co-methyvinyl)siloxane, phosphine containing polysiloxanes, phosphine oxide containing polysiloxanes, and silica coated AIN filled poly(3-cyanopropylmethy)siloxane networks. These polar polysiloxane microcomposite networks had different functional groups with potential applications as low modulus resins for thermally conductive adhesives. Functional polysiloxanes interacted more strongly than did polydimethylsiloxane resins with polar conductive fillers to yield well dispersed microcomposites with higher quantities of fillers. Transmission electron microscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, peel adhesion tests, and Xray photoelectron spectroscopy confirmed specific interactions of functional polysiloxanes. 8 refs.
