Ultrafiltration Equipment Usig Hollow Fibres and Areas of Application.

Researchers developed a process for the manufacture of hollow polysulfone fibers with an asymmetric structure. Important properties in their application as ultrafiltration membranes were a retentivity of 20 kilodaltons and a distilled water ultrafiltration rate of 94-125 liters per square meter per hour at a transmittance pressure of 0.1 megapascal and temperature of 25 (+/- 1) degrees centigrade. The four ultrafiltration membranes featured rapid assembly and disassembly for water treatment facilities and consisted of a single module unit for membrane separation, multimodule unit for steady state membrane separation, ultrafiltration unit combined with activated carbon or ion exchange unit, and water desalination unit by reverse osmosis with ultrafiltration. 5 refs.
