Experiments focused on the gas separation properties of different hollow fiber membranes manufactured at Khimvolokno Scientific and Industrial Association from 1986-1993. These membranes removed hydrogen sulfide from process mixtures. Gas phase chemical modification affected the operating performance of these membranes. The hollow fibers used in these membranes were porous polypropylene, porous and homogeneous poly-4-methylpentene, asymmetric cellulose acetate, and homogeneous polycarbonate-siloxane with different external and internal diameters and wall thickness. Operating performance included permeability, ideal separation factor, and pressure differential. 16 refs.
