An overview of Schaffner Technologies' RapidTester focuses on the measurement of nine cotton fiber properties. RapidTester data correlates well with high volume instrument data. Prototype RapidTester testing machines feature stickiness and moisture content modules. The RapidTester micronaire module uses airflow permeability through a compressed sample weighing 10 grams. A combined L + Str method based on a single needle tapered beard method measures fiber length. The single needle tapered beard method also measures fiber strength. Color imaging methods determine color and trash content. Software recalibrates these imaging devices to yield CIE color measurements.
