Alkali-soluble polymer and its fiber application

Alkali-soluble polyester is usually manufactured by batchwise polymerization, but the cost of this polymer is high and the operating efficiency of the spinning process is poor because of the instability of the polymer properties. Kanebo Gohsen Ltd, Japan, has developed a direct and continuous polymerization process, in order to overcome these difficulties. The properties of the manufactured polymer are more stable and spinning efficiency has been increased. The cost of polymer production has also been reduced by about 60% compared to that of the polymer made by batchwise polymerization. The application of alkalisoluble PET, especially as a bicomponent yarn, include KilattP, Cosmo *Moss* Piccina and Monlayve.
