CIM is a comprehensive and fully integrated control system that enhances the competitiveness of spinning mills. The benefits of CIM include higher quality yarns, increased productivity, and decreased labor costs. Japanese yarn spinners are turning to CIM as a way to compete effectively with producers in countries with low computer network to control spinning production at Kondo Spinning's Horigane mill. A central control room is equipped with activity monitoring computer terminals that display production information in real time. The Horigane mill uses Murata's Link Coner as an automated interprocess transportation system. The mill operates 40,320 spindles with just ten operators per shift.
