Kent expanded its manufacturing operations in Pickens, South Carolina, from 6,500 to 14,500 spindles. The facility includes the world's largest worsted wool spinning frames, which contain 1,000 spindles each. The plant was originally built in 1954 and covered 55,000, square feet. The facility now covers 120,000 square feet, employs 124, and produces a range of worsted yarns. Kent's plans for the next 10 years call for another 50 percent expansion.
